The Vespertine

The Vespertine by Saundra Mitchell. This is another book I reviewed for NetGalley. To be honest I thought it was a little slow at times, but maybe that was because I read it right before bed when my eyes were drooping... Towards the end of the book, the story picked up its pace and really it kept surprising me. I really didn't expect the outcome. Anyway... the review.

**** Four Stars
Amelia can see into the future. Just flashes, but enough to tell what is going to happen. It isn't good things either. She sees horrors that she really wishes she wouldn't. Deaths, injuries, and heartbreaks. Amelia warns everyone of their ominous futures, however, she can not stop the tragedies from happening.
Amelia lives in 1889. She spends her time not really caring what everyone else thinks. Amelia isn't the dainty female type. She is adventurous and daring. She also finds courage when she needs it. Everyone asks her what will happen to them in the future, but a lot of times, Amelia can't bare to tell them.
When one man gets mad at Amelia for not stopping the injury of his loved one, it's clear that Amelia's "gift" is not wanted anymore. When that same man tries to kill her but harms her friend instead, Amelia knows she must make a choice. She can stay and put everyone in danger, or she can leave. When one last tragedy strikes, Amelia makes up her mind. *Phae Phae*
